ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIRS!
We also work on electric wheelchairs at CALL TOM!
We work on ALL types of SMALL Equipment!
SHORT STORY...
The other day, a gentleman called me and asked if I work on Tillers.
I replied "Yes, I do." He said he thought he had a broken gear in his tiller. I asked what brand tiller he had. He told me
it was a Howard tiller. Well, I hadn't heard of Howard, and he informed me it was a tractor-mounted tiller. OK, so, how big
is it? Oh, it's just a small one. To which I replied "OK, bring it over."
So, through my driveway, comes this John Deere tractor with a 10 foot wide tiller
hanging on the back, weighing in at 3,600 pounds!!! (The 400 extra pounds was all the oil soaked mud hanging on it!)
Well, it turns out that this Howard tiller IS a small tiller...for Howard...they're
made up to 20 feet wide!
Since he brought it from the other side of Burley to my shop in Paul, I told him
I'd work on it for him. Turns out he needs about $5,000 in gears and shafts in the PTO gearbox.
Why am I telling you this story???
Simple...I can fix anything! The limitations I place on size (SMALL Equipment) is
so that I can work on the equipment INSIDE my shop, to keep things looking neat for my neighbors. I live in an Agriculturally
zoned area, and I'm running a Commercial business (with the citys' permission), and I respect my neighbors wishes to NOT live
in a junkyard atmosphere.
So, if you have something you REALLY need worked on, CALL TOM!, and we'll make arrangements
to get it fixed!

This go-kart is one of the more expensive ones built, with the exception of being Chinese, and the people who assembled
it were not very thorough in their assembly. The roll cage bolts started falling out - we removed the bolts and put thread-lock
on the threads, and tightened them securely. The fender supports are made of thin steel, and succumbed to vibration, breaking
off. We welded them back on with a little beefier material. Also, the air filter was poorly attached, allowing air to bypass
the filter, also making it almost impossible to start: These engines are VERY sensitive to the air/fuel relationships, and
WILL NOT start without the air filter in place!

This simple go-kart needed a new carburetor since the company that built the engine went out of business. With the help
of Burley Small Engines, we located and purchased a replacement carb. The roll cage required some welding, and, with the help
of Dakota Diesel, a new accelerator cable was located, which we installed.

This is a fancy little Chinese-built Go-Kart that came into the shop. The owner spent a lot of money replacing parts,
and it still wouldn't start. The engine compression was low, indicating the engine needed new rings. He could have saved quite
a bit of money if he had brought it to the shop first.

This is a Coca-Cola 3.5HP Go-Kart used in parades. The reason it was brought in is for a sticky clutch.
These three pics are of a "Trail Breaker" motorcycle. The story goes that these bikes are pushed out of helicopters and
planes with a parachute attached for the smoke jumpers to get to the wildfires. Both wheels are tanks that can carry gasoline
to lengthen mileage if necessary. It has front and rear drive, small 2-cycle Chrysler engine, geared REALLY low, and can clear
a 12" log on the trail easily. This one has been sitting a while, and needs carburetor work.

A 1970's Honda 90. It's in decent shape and still running. Needs carburetor cleanings once in a while because it runs
between the house and the shop on a dirt road. The fuel filters have been changed to help with that problem.

This is an example of "too old" for the motorcycle shops to work on. This bike has a little over 6,000 miles on it, but
parts may be a little more difficult to get than reaching for them on the shelf...so the dealers don't want to mess with it.
It's a 4 cylinder engine, exhibiting poor performance. Kawasaki installed a timing chain tensioner spring that was too weak,
and allowed the cams to change their timing.

| Rupp Mini-bike |

|
| Needs an engine & some small repairs |
This mini-bike was on the way to the dump! Fortunately, (for me), the people that owned it stopped at
our shop and asked if we wanted it! SURE! We found out the engine is siezed and it needs a seat and throttle. This unit will
be for sale when we get an engine.

|
| Yamaha ATV |
The Yamaha ATV, above, won't start - it's just plain worn out - no compression, bad battery, the recoil starter hanging
loose (vibrated the bolts loose), the electric starter was hanging from the wires, the starter wiring suffering from that.
I looked this one over for about an hour and a half, and determined it wasn't worth the customers money to repair it. He came
and picked it up, happy to find I wasn't charging him for looking at it. As I said - If I Can't Fix It...There's NO LABOR
CHARGE!

| Noma 2 cycle snow blower with 110VAC electric start |
The snow blower, above, was brought in for a routine tune-up, and repair from the damage a garden hose can bring to the
reel when accidentally run over in the snow.

| Snapper 4 cycle snowblower with 110VAC electric start |
4 Cycle snowblower above, was brought in for just a routine tune-up.
Please don't be embarrassed. The owner of this chain saw brought it in to repair the clutch...it's all bound up. I'll
admit, I've done it too....the brake was on. Easy fix, but it did require a carburetor adjustment for it to rev up quickly
without stumbling.

McCullogh chain saw. The owner replaced the chain bar with an incorrect bar. The bar chewed up the clutch drive sprocket,
causing it to grab the chain rather than drive it. I took a grinder to the chain bar to make room for the sprocket, and ordered
a new clutch drive sprocket.

This is a 1.5HP electric lawn edger we have for sale. The previous owner complained that the prongs of the plug
in the handle burned her extension cord! During use, the electric extension cord would pull off the handle plug, causing a
heat buildup between the prongs and the cord, eventually burning the end right off the cord, and melting the inside part of
the handle. We disassembled the handle and installed the end of another extension cord. Now, the cords can be tied together,
eliminating stress on the plug. This unit is fully functional and for sale.

| Sears Battery Powered 18" Reel Type Mower |
This mower had a broken control lever, and the parts were unavailable from Sears. We used some control lever parts from
a standard rotary mower and adapted it to this mower. Works great, and the owner is happy to have her antique in good working
condition!

This is a really high quality massager - leather pad, cast aluminum body, variable speed. The owner noticed some sparking
while operating. When I took it apart, I found the one brush had formed a ledge over the top of the commutator. After grinding
off the ledge, the brush seated better - no more arcing.

This wood chipper/shredder has a 24 HP Onan engine with a hydraulic feed system. The blades have been sharpened
and the belts have been replaced.

This is a little Briggs & Stratton Wheel Line Engine. Due to the operating conditions, water has accumulated in the
fuel tank, rusting it and the carburetor parts that protrude into the fuel tank. The owner doesn't wish to spend any money
on it, so it's destined for the junk pile.
| Pressure Washer |

|
| Pressure regulator is sometimes a problem on pressure washers. Easy to fix...how's YOURS doing? |
Sometimes, the pressure regulator gets sticky on all brands of pressure washers. You squeeze the trigger, and it dribbles.
In the next second, since you don't expect it, the pressure kicks up and almost puts you on your butt! You just get used to
the pressure, leaning into it a little, and the pressure drop almost puts you on your face! It's frustrating trying to work
with it this way...call us, we can fix it.

|
| Bosch Electric Jackhammer |
The owner of this jackhammer thought it quit because it has a feature that shuts it down when it needs brushes. I opened
it up - brushes are good - put it back together, and it works! Since I didn't actually fix anything, there was no
charge! The owner was surprised...normally, he pays $100 for someone to just LOOK AT IT! We don't operate that way
here at CALL TOM!

|
| Homemade hydraulic press |
The hydraulic press, above, is thought out well and works in the manner it was designed. The only problem is that the
ram builds bressure when retracting. The returning oil from the bottom of the ram causes the pressure relief valve in the
pump to lift, due to the operating design of the pump, a normal condition.
